Weight of Memories

Wearables, 2019
Photography by Yuwei Lin

How much of the past we must carry to live?

I used to be a athelete, now I am not; I used to dislike the colour red, now I am not; my mother used to be young and beautiful, now she is not.

The wearables are incredibly heavy, proving those memories are not vain, they have weights not only psychlogically but also physically.

The Unbearable Weight of Memories,
I Cannot Let Go
记忆之重,不忍割舍

With the passage of time. Body and Objects shape each other, change each other. It’s history embodied inside, intangible. To make new objects is to burying old memories, your painful love and sorrow. The truth is - we must let go in order to move on with life.

It is -
A ceremony
A celebration
A metamorphosis
Towards a New Beginning

The Weight of Memories,  Now, Outside of My Body
记忆之重,现在已成身外之物
